Fulham Palace Pharmacy

How does this service work?

Our Pharmacy First service lets you skip the GP for minor illness care. You visit Fulham Palace Pharmacy and speak confidentially with our pharmacist about your sore throat. We use national patient group directions to assess your condition. If treatment is needed and you meet criteria, we supply medication on the spot. Otherwise we guide you on self-care or refer you to your GP. This approach is based on NHS England’s Pharmacy First specification and keeps care quick and local.

Our pharmacists are trained to recognise signs of bacterial infection that may require antibiotics. For eligible adults and children over five, we can supply phenoxymethylpenicillin or clarithromycin under NHS guidelines. Treatment lasts five days and must start immediately.

This service launched nationally on 31 January 2024 and is now in over eighty percent of community pharmacies. It has handled more than one and a half million consultations to date.
