Tick Borne Encephalitis Vaccine

How does this service work?

You start with a private travel health consultation. The pharmacist reviews your itinerary, medical history and any previous vaccinations.

If the vaccine is suitable, the first injection is given straight away. A second dose follows two to twelve weeks later to complete primary protection.

A third booster after one year can keep you protected for up to ten years, matching UKHSA Green Book advice.

Payment is taken in‑store. You receive a stamped record for border officials plus digital reminders so no appointment is missed. Our team is trained in recognising and reporting any adverse events.

Who should consider vaccination

Back‑packers, campers and anyone planning outdoor work in forested parts of central, eastern or northern Europe are advised to take the course .

Practical tick bite prevention tips

  • Wear long‑sleeved light clothing so ticks can be spotted
  • Apply 20 per cent DEET repellent to skin and clothes
  • Check skin and clothing every two to three hours
  • Remove ticks promptly with fine‑tipped tweezers

TBE is rare but rising in many wooded holiday regions. If you plan walking, camping or fieldwork, vaccination is the most reliable safeguard. The NHS advises at least two doses before travel to at‑risk areas where ticks carry the virus .

The standard schedule is two doses two to twelve weeks apart. A third booster dose follows after one year. Further boosters are then advised every three to five years if risk continues.

Arrange your first appointment at least four weeks before departure. This allows both initial doses to be given and antibodies to build to protective levels.

Yes. Our pharmacist can give multiple travel vaccines in one session when clinically appropriate, spacing injections on different arms to minimise soreness.

Most people notice only mild arm pain or low‑grade fever for a day or two. Severe reactions are extremely rare. We monitor you for 15 minutes after the jab and provide clear after‑care advice.

Licensed paediatric doses are available from one year of age. The schedule and dose volume differ slightly. Our pharmacist will explain.

Yes. With your consent we send an electronic record to your GP so your NHS file is complete.
